"To remind and to grow" is the sole purpose of celebrating World Environment Day every year. We need to remember that men and nature are two sides of the same coin and the existence of one is impossible without the other, and growth is a term miserably misunderstood by society. The solution to this is educating the Nursery School Kids about the environment to understand the importance of trees that can keep them healthy.
The vegetation of Planet Earth is the lifeline of the entire Animal Kingdom, and the Human Race and the present and the next generation must understand.
Humans must understand that we are constantly developing with technology and advancements. Still, growth has been in a coma because development is making life comfortable, while a healthier green environmental growth shall make life possible till the end of time.
Growth is a process for which we need to look into the future, not just short-term benefits. Today our future states that we may be the last generation to live long and healthy lives with nature and sunshine. This is true because global warming, overpopulation, depletion of the ozone layer etc., are constantly deteriorating the environment.
Human is the greatest contributors to the situation.
It is heart-aching to know that we humans are the main cause of this corrosion. We have made all efforts to deplete our jungles to meet the needs of the ever-expanding human population.
So every year, we celebrate 5th June as world environment day, making it an opportunity to not only encourage people to plant more trees and to say "no" to everything that could be harmful to mother nature and also remind them that if they fail to do so, they too will perish with the imbalance in the natural habitat.
The importance of the environment is undeniable and irreplaceable, but the good news is you don"t need to fight wars or give lives to pay your contribution for the protection of the same. Although it isn't possible for everyone to go hug trees and save them or to leave their lives and be the next green revolution, even some small efforts and little changes in your lives could be enough.
All of us know that hundreds of thousands of trees are felled every year to make paper; hence avoiding these papers in any way can be your way of saving the trees. With bits of cautious contribution from every individual, we can bring about a huge change in rebuilding a healthy, worthwhile habitat for all.
In this fast-paced world, replacing every kilo of paper, from cash bills to digital methods, is simple. With no second thought, technology can be the medium leading you to the real growth you seek. Technology is faster and makes finding errors and correcting them easy for you. All offices should be mandatorily made paper-free. They should be encouraged to use technology to maintain records and online transactions.
Imagine you have to write a story, and you start writing. You write and correct the story repeatedly when searching for the perfect idea. If you are writing this story on a laptop, just a single click can correct the mistakes, but if you use paper, imagine how much paper you would be wasting and how many trees it would cost!
Tissue Paper - one of the biggest contributors to the felling of trees.
The biggest damage to trees is caused by the ever-increasing demand for tissue paper worldwide.
Dr. William Yu, the founder and chief executive of the World Green Organization, explained.
“At least 17 trees will have to be cut down and 20,000 gallons of water is contaminated to produce a ton of tissue paper,” he said. The estimated consumption of tissue paper worldwide is not limited to just one ton daily. It is much higher.
Shocking data collected in 2014 in Hong Kong is scary; it says the daily consumption of tissue paper was about 668 tons. This requires about 11,300 trees and 13 million gallons of water to fulfill the demand. Imagine the damage being done to meet the global demand for this one paper product. Say no to tissue paper.
Hotels, motels and restaurants are high consumers of tissue paper.
One small step to cut down on the use of tissue paper could prove to be a giant step in saving the jungle and making the world greener by decreasing the cut down of trees. Start using washable cloth wherever possible. Hotels, motels and restaurants are high consumers of tissue paper; they could do away with using tissue paper at all points except the toilets.
Schools can contribute a lot to rebuilding a healthier environment.
Play Schools, pre-primary and Primary schools are the right places to start educating children on the importance of keeping the world green, i.e., saving trees. This would help in making it a habit.
Mastermind School is certainly living up to its social responsibility and taking care to educate the students and their parents about the need to ensure a greener world. They have gone paperless in their admin work. No bills, no cash transactions. Everything is online. They encourage the parents to use thin washable cotton cloth napkins instead of tissue paper, butter paper, or even Aluminium foils in their kid's lunch boxes.
Mastermind School has taken special care to educate its students about the importance of planting trees. They take them on trips into the green world of pastures and groves. This meets two important aspects of education, and the children are learning from their classrooms and getting a first-hand feel of a fresh breath.
Everyone needs to contribute their bit to the endeavor
Of course, this doesn't mean that just avoiding papers would stop all the problems, but something is better than nothing. These small initiatives could make many others aware and motivate them to make the right choice toward improving the environment's health. As mentioned earlier, we should start educating our Kids right from their primary school days about the contribution of trees to our environment.
Let us all contribute our little share by taking steps towards saving trees by promoting digital learning, cutting down on paper use and walking towards a future lightened by sun rays and lots of Greenery, not just LED lights.
