Activities Within The Classrooms of Primary & Preprimary Schools 

Until the last few decades, people have considered the traditional chalk and board method best for learning. However, recent developments and research have proven otherwise. Looking around and coming up with activities within the classrooms of Primary & Preprimary schools will make the children smile and have fun while learning.

These activities induce a positive outlook towards learning, shaping the child’s perspective positively for the future. Here are some of the best classroom activities to help children learn better.

Creative Learning 

A) Debates and Discussions 

Learning to share ideas and perspectives in a healthy, civil manner is essential. Discussions and debates help in this aspect. Each child is different and would naturally have a different view on various aspects.

An open, safe environment for children to raise opinions and counter-argue is a good activity that encourages learning. Children also learn how to present themselves, gain in-depth knowledge, gain confidence and self-esteem, and understand the importance of research and critical thinking.

B) Quizzes 

Quizzes are a fun way to create an enjoyable learning environment for children. These not only help students to be better prepared in their academics but also promotes healthy competition. Quizzes encourage children to put more effort into studying and help boost their memory power.

C) Storytelling 

Storytelling can be a fun learning activity for children. Children learn much through the stories' endings and morals due to the various characters and colors. Storytelling also helps encourage children to be more creative, sharpens memories and fosters imagination. This helps in developing good social skills too.

D) Educational Trips

While trips are fun, they are no harm in learning something from them. Educational trips are a practical way of teaching students something. Through these trips, children usually learn more and eagerly. Their worldview, as well as their thinking horizon, slowly expands. Here is where experimental learning takes place.

Children also learn practical things such as how to behave and present themselves or how to react to situations outside the classroom boundaries.

E) Group Assignments/Projects

Gone are the days when the teacher-student teaching method was the only relationship formed. Studies prove that group projects help students to solve and brainstorm complex ideas together and bring in more sense of responsibility.

Various perspectives are brought forth in a group assignment helping the children learn the importance of working together in a group. Apart from the academic perspective, children also understand the importance of delegating responsibilities and team effort.

Conclusion

It is safe to say that these various school activities give children a better chance of learning and grasping. Most importantly, through these small activities, a much healthier learning environment is created for the students to get motivated to study, learn and explore the world beyond just their textbooks. Schools have had to go online, and slowly but steadily, students have adjusted to online learning, and so have the parents accepted it, though very reluctantly.

The enterprising schools like Mastermind School understood and took proactive steps to train their teachers to deliver online. They took up the responsibility of educating the parents and students to enable them to use the new technology to the optimum level and ensure that at Mastermind School, learning continues.

Under these circumstances, except for Educational trips, all other activities are being practiced online as they would be in normal schooling days.
